Wanted Yorktown Man Arrested After Putnam Traffic Stop

Kevin A. Valenzuela, 29, of Yorktown Heights, was stopped around 2 a.m. Saturday, April 14, by Deputy Sheriff Ronald Yeager after he observed the vehicle, which he knew the owner was wanted while patrolling the Lake Peekskill area of Putnam Valley. Man Caught With Crack Cocaine In Stop At Taconic Parkway Entrance

A Putnam County man is facing drug charges after being busted by a police officer in Yorktown who spotted drug activity in a vehicle. An officer on patrol near the intersection of Curry Street and Jennifer Court in Yorktown Heights allegedly observed drug activity inside a truck involving Lake Peekskill resident James Paccione, 61, who proceeded to leave the area and drive off onto Route 6. Police said that the officer followed the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop at Route 6 near the Taconic State Parkway entrance for a cracked windshield.

Peekskill Appoints New School Superintendent

After an extensive search, the Peekskill Board of Education announced that Dr. David Mauricio has been selected to serve as the district's next Superintendent of Schools. Mauricio, who is currently serving as the chief of Strategic Alignment and Innovation at Buffalo Schools, was officially appointed on Tuesday, April 10. He will replace Peekskill's Interim Superintendent, Dr. Mary Keenan Foster and begin his three year contract effective July 1. "I am very excited to join the Peekskill community," Mauricio said.

Rock Me These Nights: Billy Squier schedules new US concerts with G.E. Smith

Back in January, Billy Squier played a trio of special concert events in the New York City area with acclaimed touring and session guitarist G.E. Smith . Now, the duo has lined up four more shows in various venues around the Northeastern U.S. The concerts are scheduled for April 21 in Peekskill, New York; April 29 in Ardmore, Pennsylvania; May 1 in Annapolis, Maryland; and May 2 in Washington, D.C. Billy, of course, is best-known for such early-'80s hits as "The Stroke," "Rock Me Tonite" and "Everybody Wants You."
