Fuel spill halts work on Algonquin pipeline in Peekskill

Work temporarily grinded to a halt on a section of the Algonquin natural gas pipeline in Peekskill Friday morning after gallons of fuel spilled onto a work site. The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission confirmed that a tanker ran into a rock, creating a gaping hole that released 45 gallons of diesel fuel on the Reynolds Hill site.

A suspect has been arrested in connected with a hit-and-run crash in Peekskill early Sunday morning that has left a bicyclist in critical condition, according to News 12. Police say they found a Honda Accord owned by 37-year-old Peekskill resident Gersun Abregu Sunday night and, after determining he cleaned the vehicle in an effort to destroy evidence, charged him with tampering with physical evidence, the report said.
