Westchester Land Trust in Bedford Hills and Hudson Highlands Land Trust in Garrison announced that together they have permanently protected a critical landholding within the watershed of the Peekskill Hollow Brook, which is part of the Peekskill and Cortlandt drinking water supply system. Woman Charged With DWI, Marijuana Possession In Cortlandt

State police in Cortlandt arrested Crystal Gibbs, 32, of Peekskill on Sunday and charged her with DWI and marijuana possession after troopers were called to the scene of an accident on Route 9. When the troopers arrived on scene, they discovered Gibbs asleep at the wheel of her Hyundai, determining that she was intoxicated when speaking with her. The troopers noticed extensive damage to the Hyundai that was inconsistent with the accident.

Teacher Claims He Was Fired Over Incident With Legendary Peekskill Coach

Former Peekskill High School boys basketball assistant and physical education teacher Anthony Jackson is suing the district and the state's Education Department after being fired, according to a report on LoHud.com. Court papers obtained by LoHud.com show that Jackson alleges he was unfairly fired after a January 2014 incident with longtime boys basketball coach Lou Panzanaro, who recently retired after 31 years at the school.
