Google Helps Businesses Get Online In Peekskill

On Tuesday, Google hosted a workshop for local business owners at Dramatic Hall in the Peekskill Central Market to teach them how to get on Google Search and Maps and help to promote their business with a free website and advertising. According to Google, four in five consumers use search engines to find information about local businesses, but 47 percent of US small businesses don't have a website and only 37 percent have claimed or updated their business information on a search engine.

Driver Charged After K-9 'Dallas' Finds Concealed Marijuana In Yorktown

A man from Peekskill was busted with nearly 40 grams of marijuana in Yorktown after a police officer got an assist from a furry friend. A member of the Yorktown Police Department K-9 unit was on patrol with his partner, "Dallas," at approximately 9:20 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 6 when they stopped a 22-year-old from Peekskill - whose name was not disclosed - for speeding on Route 6. During the traffic stop, police said that as Dallas was surveying the scene, he "quickly located 39.5 grams of marijuana that was concealed in the vehicle."

Northern Westchester Woman Who Posed As Attorney Indicted, DA Says

A Northern Westchester woman was indicted on charges she pretended to be an attorney and even represented a client during a court proceeding, according to Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. Delilah Torres, 42, of Peekskill was arraigned Wednesday on two counts of offering a false instrument for filing, both felonies, for representing herself as an attorney, and one count of practicing or appearing as an attorney-at-law without being admitted and registered, said Scarpino. Torres first appeared in Pleasantville Village Court on June 26, identifying herself as the attorney for a client.
