A Northern Westchester woman was indicted on charges she pretended to be an attorney and even represented a client during a court proceeding, according to Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. Delilah Torres, 42, of Peekskill was arraigned Wednesday on two counts of offering a false instrument for filing, both felonies, for representing herself as an attorney, and one count of practicing or appearing as an attorney-at-law without being admitted and registered, said Scarpino. Torres first appeared in Pleasantville Village Court on June 26, identifying herself as the attorney for a client.

It was not immediately clear if it was the same coyote that was hanging out between Route 9A and the Cortlandt train station in Montrose earlier this week , or a separate animal, though a witness said it looked similar.

The City of Peekskill detectives nabbed a suspect at his home Wednesday morning for the Tuesday stabbing of another man, according to Peekskill Police Chief Eric Johansen. Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino set in motion Thursday a lawsuit to stop or delay the closure of Indian Point, arguing that what he calls Gov. Andrew Cuomo's "secret deal" with Entergy and Riverkeeper to close the nuclear power plant cannot move forward because the state did not complete a full environmental review prior to the agreement to shut the facility, as required by state law. "The law requires that a full environmental review needs to be done before an agreement is reached, not after," Astorino said in a press conference at Riverfront Green Park in Peekskill.
