A suspect has been arrested in connected with a hit-and-run crash in Peekskill early Sunday morning that has left a bicyclist in critical condition, according to News 12. Police say they found a Honda Accord owned by 37-year-old Peekskill resident Gersun Abregu Sunday night and, after determining he cleaned the vehicle in an effort to destroy evidence, charged him with tampering with physical evidence, the report said.

John "Jack" Joseph Ward -- a Spring Hill, Florida, resident, formerly of Peekskill, died on Tuesday, Aug. 16. He was 92. Community Eligibility Provision Provides Free Meals For Peekskill Students

The Peekskill City School District was recently awarded a federally funded breakfast and lunch provision that is available to all district students, from pre-K to grade 12. The district was able to apply for the Community Eligibility Option of the 2010 Hunger Free Kids Act because of the large number of students attending Peekskill City School District who met previous guidelines for free or reduced meals, according to a release from the Peekskill City School District. Peekskill Man Sentenced For Selling Heroin That Killed 23-Year-Old

A Peekskill man was sentenced Thursday to 186 months in prison for conspiring to distribute more than a kilogram of heroin in and around Westchester County during 2014, and distributing the heroin and fentanyl that resulted in the overdose death of a 23-year-old man, according to Preet Bharara, the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York. The defendant, Lakun Rhyne, pleaded guilty to a felony information in White Plains federal court on April 21, 2016, before U.S. District Judge Nelson S. RomA n, who imposed Thursday's sentence.

David Pacchiana thought his liquor store had a secure home through at least 2020, but when plans to build a new firehouse meant the demolition of the building his business called home, he found himself the only loser in a case of eminent domain, according to The Examiner. Two Cortlandt Residents Charged After Loaded Handgun Recovered From Vehicle

Peekskill Police arrested and charged three 23-year-olds with possessing a loaded gun following a traffic stop Monday night. Cortlandt Manor residents Garfield Holland and Noah Waldstein and Peekskill resident Cain Smalls were arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Firearm in the second degree, a Class C felony and Criminal Officer Jonathan Mosquera, stopped a 2005 Audi on the Bear Mountain Parkway after observing Holland commit a traffic offense.
