Peekskill High School's new robotics team, The Iron Devils, is off to a quick start and has made a name for itself among its peers. A Yonkers police detective guilty of perjury on another case lied about the circumstances of Jamar Smythe's arrest, the judge said. Jamar Smythe of Peekskill, who served two years of a 15-year sentence for drug possession, was released April 22 and his conviction was vacated.

Detectives Lied In Case Involving Peekskill Man, DA Says

YONKERS, N.Y. Westchester County officials have acknowledged that Yonkers detectives gave false testimony in a 2012 drug case that led to a Peekskill man being sentenced to 15 years in prison, according to lohud.com. The Westchester County District Attorney's Office said Jamar Smythe 34, should have his conviction thrown out because two Yonkers detectives lied at his trial, lohud.com reported.

FAIRFIELD - A New York woman was arrested on prostitution charges Thursday after soliciting an undercover police officer for sex, authorities said. Peekskill Middle School Students Enhancing Community Sustainability through Wheelabrator Symposium

A group of Peekskill Middle School students are working to promote sustainability and sustainable practices at Depew Park, as well as monitor the overall quality of the health of Lake Mitchell, as part of their participation in the 21st annual Wheelabrator Symposium for Environment and Education. To accomplish this, the Peekskill Middle School Environmental Club, along with city representatives, will conduct a study of Lake Mitchell in an effort to uncover the cause of excessive algae buildup that occurs within the lake.
