Peekskill High School's Advanced Science Research students recently attended the 2016 Advanced Science Research Symposium at Westlake High School on June 3. Six people were arrested in Peekskill Monday morning after erecting a 20-foot tripod in an attempt to block construction of the Spectra pipeline. Students from Peekskill Middle School lined the Washington Street sidewalk outside the school recently as farm workers, activists, and allies of the March for Farmworker Justice made their way through the streets of Peekskill, which was just one of multiple stops on the marchers' 200 mile trek from Long Island to Albany. So to make sure the City of Peekskill's children stay happy and healthy after school lets out for the summer, the school district will be providing free meals at several locations. It will be located at Peekskill Middle School, located at 212 Ringgold St.; Dunbar Heights, a residential complex off Highland Avenue run by the Peekskill Housing Authority; and the Kiley Youth Center, located at 709 Main St. Any child under the age of 18 may take part in the program, which is run under the auspices of the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Performing for the first time at the High Notes Music Festival at Lake Compounce in Bristol on June 1, the Peekskill Middle School Chorus brought home a superior trophy for its performance. Out of three categories of "good," "excellent" and "superior," the chorus came home with a trophy for superior singing and vocal technique, having scored a 94 percent out of 100.
