Community Eligibility Provision Provides Free Meals For Peekskill Students

The Peekskill City School District was recently awarded a federally funded breakfast and lunch provision that is available to all district students, from pre-K to grade 12. The district was able to apply for the Community Eligibility Option of the 2010 Hunger Free Kids Act because of the large number of students attending Peekskill City School District who met previous guidelines for free or reduced meals, according to a release from the Peekskill City School District. The program is effective immediately, and every child from pre-K through grade 12 attending a Peekskill City School District site will receive a free breakfast and free lunch, the release said.
