The rumble and bang of an earthquake woke some Putnam and upper Westchester County residents early on Wednesday February 7. Social media posts and comments directed at local news outlets had the temblor, centered in Putnam Valley, rattling windows from West Point to Peekskill to Connecticut. Despite a modest 2.2 West Coast transplants might scoff at the outsized reaction to an undersized shake, but any seismic activity in our part of the Hudson Valley re-ignites worries among opponents of the Indian Point Energy Center.
