Every February, the City of Peekskill celebrates Black History Month by honoring outstanding African-American members of the community for their personal and professional achievements, civic contributions, and general good deeds that have favorably impacted local citizens. This year, Peekskill High School's senior office assistant Joanne Clark was recognized by the city and a proclamation was written in her honor, dedicating the entire month of February as "Joanne Clark Month" in the City of Peekskill.
