Preservation Company Hopes To Retain Peekskill Grant

Representatives of The Preservation Company hope to be able to retain more than $313,00 in Community Block Grants, despite a recommendation from the town's corporation counsel for the Common Council to rescind a resolution that allows them to disperse the money to Peekskill families in need, according to the Peekskill Post. Corporation Counsel Melissa Ferraro, who made the recommendation, said that until the company can get out from under a cloud of suspicion following the discovery that they had incorrectly awarded money from the grant to Deputy Mayor Drew Claxton and her son in 2007, it would not be prudent for the city to be in business with the organization, said the Peekskill Post.
