It's not uncommon for a student athlete to be recognized for his or her achievements, but it is unusual for an entire school sports team to receive a blanket award, said Peekskill school officials. The city's Girls' Varsity Swim Team was recently honored as "scholar athletes" by the New York State Public High School Athletic Association, school officials said.
